Best meatball parm sub....EVER

I mean, that pretty much sums it up right there! The Fair Haven Pizza House is truly a hidden gem, what every foodie looks for. It is unassuming, and you must know what to order. There are only two good things on the menu, and pizza is not one of them. It's all about the bread and the sauce...

One of my favorite things about this hole-in-the-wall is that it is truly a landmark and part of the community. The walls are lined with hundred of photos from local families; babies, proms, weddings, glam-shots, toddlers, little league, and football.

The owner is from Sicily, and speaks with such a thick accent that sometimes it is hard to make out that he is asking. Although, there should only by one answer to whatever he asks.... "I'll have the LARGE meatball parm sub, please!"

The bread is homemade, and if you order by the loaf (which you can) it is still warm from the oven. It is a french sourdough, chewy, dense, and satisfying.  Sliced down the middle and topped with giant meatballs and smothered in tomato sauce from a big simmering pot that is still on the stove.  The sub is then covered with mozzarella cheese and put in the oven for just long enough for the cheese to start to crisp up along the top and gives the bread time to absorb some of that perfect sauce without becoming soggy. Excellent and perfect, every time.

As for the other food, the portions are so big that a family of 3 would have a hard time finishing it off, but the quality is low and I think it is mostly bland. The pizza is average, but you wouldn't know it from the number they sell!
