Fantastic!
I was in Burlington last summer with a badly broken leg. On my first trip out of the house by myself in 6 weeks, I came here to enjoy a pizza and a beer. It was unbelievable! The restaurant was not packed and, since I was in a large boot, they helped me to my table. The beer was great...a stout and the pizza was amazing. Maybe it was the feeling of freedom, but I truly believe it to be the best pizza I've ever had. The service was good and everyone was friendly. I will have this memory for a long time and would recommend American Flatbread to anyone!

OUTSTANDING ORGANIC PIZZA!!
If you have to wait 30 to 45 minutes for a table, WAIT! For $30.00 you can get a pizza with organic items on it and a couple of beers each. Their pizza is wood fired and you can see it baking in the oven. It's quite warm by the oven, so we usually sit away from it. All ages there too. Lots of college kids during the school year. It's the only place that I don't mind sitting next to little kids. While you're waiting for a table you can have a beer and people watch. Excellent pizza and salads; excellent service too. They do not take reservations either, so go early or plan to wait. I promise you, you'll love the food!!!!

Home is Where the Hearth Is
Some friends and I had dinner here last week. Burlington Hearth is a licensed location of American Flatbread, based in Waitsfield, VT. They also have a Middlebury, VT location. They make the tastiest flatbread pizzas using brick ovens in an open kitchen area, where you can watch them work from your table in the main dining room. Or you can sit by the large front windows and watch people and traffic in this busy area of town. Housed where the gone-but-not-forgotten restaurant Carburís used to be at 115 St. Paul Street across from City Hall Park, the restaurant is cozy, with brick walls and lots of wood details, including a long wooden bar area that seemed ideal for solos.

Iíve loved this restaurant since it first opened, but hadnít been there for awhile so I worked up a good hunger before I even arrived, only to find an hour wait at 5:30pm on a Friday night. Turns out this place has gotten so popular since I last ate there that there is usually an hour wait for dinner on weekends now. The entire bar area was packed solid with people standing, so we even had to wait outside for awhile, which wasnít a lot of fun on a raw Vermont evening. But the food is oh so worth any inconvenience.

We all had the Evolution Salad, which was fantastic, as were the two flatbreads we shared, the Cheese & Herb (simple, yet so flavorful) and the Sundried Tomato & Mushroom (again, really packed with flavor). Iím convinced the flavors pop so much because they use organic and locally-grown ingredients. They have a plentiful listing of beers (including at least one non-alcoholic) and you can order wine by the glass. The tables for four are a little small for four people, especially when the pizza takes up a good third of the table space, but for a solo diner, it would be fine.

If youíre in Burlington, definitely give this place a try. Just be sure to show up right when they open the doors at 5pm for a cozy table in the dining room or to plant yourself at the bar for a couple of hours of people-watching, socializing, and chowing down on some great flatbread. Note that while the restaurant is open for dinner nightly, it is only open for lunch Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Flatbread reinvents the pizza. The absolutely freshest vegetables and dough! Too many choices for vegetarians and for us meat lovers the sausage makes you crave another. If there is more than one eating you are going to want at least a large. Only one salad is available, but its quite tasty. And if you can be sure to try out their delicious menu of beer and wine.

Fun place to bring friends. Yummy pizza. I like how they have it in the frozen food section in grocery stores (like city market).

By far my favorite restaurant to eat at in Burlington, not a pizza joint by any means, redefining the beautiful union of bread, tomato, and cheese in one neat package. A wide menu of health conscious and organic ingredients, sure to please people of all tastes and needs (plus they utilize as much local product as possible). THE BEST BEER SELECTION in town, without a doubt- half a dozen or more of their own house brews that generally range from delicious to superb, not to mention a dozen other brews on tap and at least 75 bottled beers from all across the globe. Price is fair, especially considering the quality of the dining experience. Give it a shot, you may become addicted just as I am!

My family vacations in Burlington every summer and we are certain to return to American Flatbread time and time again. The pizzas are delicious, there is something for everyone and the quality of ingredients is great!
