Not a true Japanese restaurant...

I've been traveling all around the world. I went to Japan where I tested of course real sushis. But I've been also in Belgium and France where I had sushis nearly as good as in Japan!

Last week I went to Sakura... What a restaurant... Very cold ambiance, almost no Asian people in the restaurant... Especially no Asian customers which is always a bad thing...

So, the fish is not a premium quality fish. The cut of the fish is not bad, but sushis, sashimis and chirashi are tasteless! Even worst, the wasabi is not even real wasabi... it's just coming out from a tube...

I won't recommend any real sushi lovers to go there...

Stodgy Old-School

Sakura is probably the best Japanese the area has to offer, but that isn't really saying much. After moving to the area, we ate there a few times, but we don't have much enthusiasm for going back. The fish is only medium-quality. Dishes are well-prepared and attractive, but there is always too much -- too much on the plate, or too much to comfortably consume in one bite. So you end up either looking like a very messy eater or a chipmunk with stuffed cheeks. Service is average. You always have the vague feeling that the server is annoyed. There is also a kind of rigid and snotty adherence to "traditional" Japanese sensibilities when it comes to what's offered and how it's prepared and served. We have dined at many upscale Japanese restaurants on both coasts, places with a much more modern, fun, and daring approach to cuisine, and we don't need to be lectured! Even my kids, who adore Japanese food and culture, tell us they'd rather go elsewhere or just stay home.

Great Japonese Food
Definitely worth the trip and they have something for everyone. My favorite is the spicy scallop roll, so good!
