As a family we have been coming to the Chanticleer for more than 20 years. It has long been one of our favorites. We now dine with 3 generations. The Chanticleer is outlasting other good restaurants in the area but I have to speak of my displeasure this past December during our last visit. We waited 20 minutes before I had to ask for menus and cocktails. The service worsened as the evening progressed. When I inquired about the food service our waitress told me I was " fine dining " and it takes a long time. When dinner finally arrived the food wasn't what we had been accustomed to on the past. As an example of the "fine dining" my frites were served in a paper coffee filter. To top that the decor is atrocious. We had a 18" figurine of a drunkard with an exposed beer belly staring at us during dinner. I wasn't impressed.

My wife and I wanted to try something different for my birthday. Since she works in Manchester, she knew of the Chanticleer from a friend of hers. We tried it and were really impressed. This is an outstanding gourmet experience, plain and simply. Everything from the wine to the dessert was heads above anything we've had before. You expect, however, to get what you pay for. These prices are what you would expect for the better restaurants in NY. But my, was it worth it! If you rate on a basis ot 5 stars, I give this one an unarguable 5.
