Decent food with nice atmosphee

My son and I recently stopped in there while visiting Norwich University. I was a pleasure to be seated right away even though it was 6:30 PM on a Saturday night and we were also brought the obligatory chips and salsa. The next pleasant surprise was to be presented two salsas - a hotter one, and a mider one! Nice touch.

We ordered an appetizer (chicken taquitos) and two entrees: Chicken Mole and a combination plate. The appetizer arrived quite quickly and was four freshly fried taquitos arranged in a square around a mound of sour cream on a bed of a red sauce that tasted more like an Italian pizza sauce than Mexican. Nonetheles, they were very tasty.

Similarly, the entrees were well presented - although with less visual appeal. Unfortunately, my son's cheese enchilada and my chicken mole had pools of grease coming out of them which was not particularly appetizing. In my son's case, this was probably from the melting cheese, while I think the mole sauce on my chicken was separating out. Too bad as the flavors were good, althoug scant on the mole. The accompaniments included choices of Black or Churro beans and rice. All were tasty. My son's burrito and taco were good - but not exceptional.

Service was very nice and attentive. We joked around with the waiter who reciprocated - and that was appreciated. The place was relatively full but not overly loud with the exception of one table of two women near us where one of the women had an unfortunately loud voice so most of the restaurant was probably hearing her stories to her friend. Oh well, that happens.

When I come back to Montpelier, this will definitely be on the list to return to.
